Timothy C. Egan, SPHR

 

Tim is a seasoned executive with a Human Resources career spanning over 35 years. While most experienced in the functional areas of Employee & Labor Relations and union avoidance, he is also experienced in sourcing, recruiting, in processing, training and development, benefits and compensation, HRIS and analytics. He is a certified facilitator with DDI (Developmental Dimensions International) as well as the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People program.

Tim’s knowledge, legal analysis and prevention strategies of grievances and litigation allowed him to seriously reduce the number of grievances by as much as 75% in represented organizations and prevent the unionization of one hospital and prevention of all litigation at another.

Tim was born in Beverly, MA and raised on the east coast.

After graduating from the Groton School in Groton, MA Tim enrolled in Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL earning his bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science. While in college, Tim was Executive Editor of the student paper and Editor-in-Chief of the Yearbook.

After graduating from college, Tim was a commissioned a 2nd Lt in the Marine Corps and served in the 3rd FSSG, 3rd MAW, 4th MAW, 4th MarDiv, and the 8th Marine Corps District) in the fields of Logistics, Training, Intelligence and as a Casualty Affairs Team Commander during Desert Storm. As a 2nd Lt, while assigned to the 3rd FSSG, Tim served as a Platoon Commander and briefly as a Company Commander. 

Tim is a major proponent of Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits program believing in its inside-out approach, its goal of interdependence on the maturity continuum, synergy, Win-Win and finding the 3rd alternative and the key role of stewardship to successful employee empowerment.

In 2002, Tim had the opportunity to train with the famed Second City comedy troupe in Las Vegas. Finding inspiration and learning techniques from the training, Tim was able to develop, present and implement important HR related in service training for managers at each hospital where he served. This included a significant overhaul of the employers New Employee Orientation program.

In 2012 Tim was voted member of the year by the local Southern New Mexico SHRM chapter and as the Non-Clinical Director of the Year at MountainView Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Prior to Human Resources, Tim worked in Security and Loss Prevention in the hotel industry and as a Pinkerton’s Detective working three cases undercover – one of which put Tim in some degree of danger, requiring extreme agility, cleverness, and caution.

Tim has worked in hospitality, manufacturing, transportation, insurance and during the last 20 years in healthcare (primarily in hospitals).

He is a published author, writing his own weekly column in the Las Vegas Review Journal from 2008 until 2011 as well as a two yet to be published novels on corporate espionage.

In his spare time Tim enjoys watching classic movies, swimming, current events, reading history and biography.
